Dobrakan keras di daun pintu yang langsung membuat cangkir kopi saya di meja ikut bergetar. Kuartet rock asal Wellington, Selandia Baru, Wet Denim, menolak mengetuk sopan saat memperkenalkan nomor anyar bertajuk Water For Dogs. Mereka datang menyergap tanpa aba-aba.

Ia melesat beringas dengan hentakan gitar elektrik yang padat dan sarat distorsi kasar. Ketukan drum berderap tanpa ampun memburu tempo cepat, mengunci ritme agar raungan dawai tetap berpijak stabil di atas garis bas yang tebal. Tidak ada basa-basi pemanasan di detik awal gubahan ini.

Nick Goodwin bernyanyi dengan artikulasi parau yang menumpahkan rasa penat rutinitas tanpa sedikit pun niat bersolek. “I don’t wanna figure it out, The well runs dry,” serunya letih menatap kelelahan yang menolak reda.
