Izzy Majcher, solois rock dari Seattle, meracik Fruit On The Vine dengan bahan yang tidak neko-neko. Diawali dengan vokalisasi yang memikat, hook yang renyah dan ketukan drum yang hangat, tempo sedang yang melaju santai tapi tetap bertenaga. Ada ruang yang sengaja dibiarkan longgar di antara instrumennya, sehingga tak ada yang saling sikut. Vokalnya tenang, nyaris kalem, dan justru di situ lucunya. Ia memarahi kita dengan suara orang yang sedang menuang minuman.

Metafora anggurnya sederhana. Anggur putih boleh kapan saja, anggur merah dicap dosa, lalu kita membela diri bahwa semuanya toh cuma buah di batang yang sama. “But if you open up that grape you will see which color bleeds”, nyanyinya. Saya belum yakin logikanya utuh, tapi baris itu enak dikunyah.

Namun ceramahnya datang tanpa rem. Di bait kedua kita disuruh menumbuhkan tulang punggung, dan refrainnya terus diputar sampai single ini habis.
