Twin Phase – Break

Proyek Marcus Assenmacher ini biasanya betah di groove malam yang berkilau. Kali ini ia pulang ke akar punk dan emo.

Gitar elektrik yang melodius menyambut tanpa basa-basi dan drum melangkah moderat. Vokalnya ditahan dulu, lalu dilepas di reff saat lapisan instrumen menumpuk dan menebal. Ia gelap dan pekat, tapi tak sampai gosong. Menjelang akhir semuanya melunak perlahan, lalu berhenti total.

Ada kelelahan yang terdengar jujur di vokal yang ditahan itu. Liriknya justru yang membuat saya mengernyit. Dinding yang menghimpit, tenggelam dalam sunyi, menjerit minta udara, hantu masa lalu yang berbisik. Kita bisa mencentangnya satu per satu seperti absen upacara Senin pagi, dan tak satu pun yang alpa.

Reff Break terus mengulang “Gonna break soon”. Sampai lagu berhenti, Twin Phase belum juga patah.
